sliding rear window

OK, first issue with new to me truck, I knew this when I bought it and wanted to see how hard or worth it, it would be to fix. Power sliding rear glass doesnt work. When you hit the switch you can hear the motor running but the window doesnt move at all. Im figuring its off track or had plastic gears and they are shot. Really dont know how much I would ever open this window but like for everything on my truck to work. Anyone had this problem?

One reason that some don't work is that the glass is glued into the lower mount and it can come loose. If it does, this can jam the glass in the track.

It could also be the motor and/or cables. The motor and cables can be bought from Ford. Not sure of the part number.

Actually try cleaning the window and track with good window cleaner and remove all the gunk, it can simply be the window is dirty and not sliding in the track. The window actually will tip up in the track or bind a bit and stall. I would try this first.

Sliding Rear Window

Had the same problem with mine. The cable had snapped. Look in the track, if the cable is loose then it either snapped or came loose. I paid about $125 for an auto glass shop to fix it. That was almost a year ago. I opened that window once since then.

Your cables are shot. Go to your dealer and order this: 6C3Z-7823394-AA

That's the "fix it" kit. They'll want your old motor 'n cables as a core.

It's not real hard to replace. Good luck ...

there can also be a problem with a heavy load placed in the bed that when it comes into contact with the front part of the bed it can deform the bed in such a way that the window will not open.......don't ask me how i know.

Mine will work when it wants. It almost always opens but never wants to close. I'm thinking about just having it swapped out for a solid back glass since i never use it.
