Thinking about doing headers and deleting the cats with a true dual exhaust with 3" tubing. No mufflers to the rear bumper.
Any thoughts or recommendations?

Don't do it, the earplugs ^ are correct. I had to run with no cats and no muffler for 1 day because the wrong muffler was delivered to the shop I go to. He had already removed the old exhaust while we waited on his driver to get there. Long story short, I had to go to work that night so he welded up the new tailpipe and put a temporary pipe where the muffler was going to go. It sounded awesome at idle and heavy throttle. literally everything in between was horrific concerning the tone and decibel level.

My cat is falling apart inside and pluggin itself up.

I can not spend a fortune right now but I figure at 200k I really want to pull the manifolds and install headers.

I am researching

Headers
X-pipe,
2x mufflers

for a true dual exhaust. I do not want loud. Thoaty OK but not a lot louder than it is stock. Better performance would be great. This Excursion is just like my SD, they both have an awful pinging at WOT that sounds like my high compression 513 on 87 octaine

thinking of piecinging the system togther and let muffler shop do the pipes at 2.5" to the rear corners

any ideas or suggestions i am open.

It is sad to see these old threads brought back to life and see posts by Johnny Langton.

I miss that guy!

I prefer to see old threads resurrected than to see 20 threads on the same subject though.
Just like right not i am ading through tons of posts trying to locate the pieces that best suit my project when it could all be in one.
