Been searching the web for possible performance upgrades for my 3 valve V10. Just found out BBK makes a throttle body that fits the 3 valve V10.. They says its a dual 65mm throttle body, does anyone know what the stock throttle body is?
not looking to argue, just trying to make since of what I have been reading.. The newer Mustangs use the same throttle body as we do, and they have dyno proven gains using these bored out throttle bodies.. So if I v8 could get some decent power from a larger throttle body, why would a v10 not benefit in a similar fashion?
Do you have other upgrades to support the bigger throttle body? I could see having a good ram air or cold air intake with a high flowing intake to support the throttle body. You have to get air, and remove it in a better fashion to justify the throttle body. Spend your money on a good tuner or something else. It'll be more beneficial
I do have a Poweraid intake along with the a 5 star tuner, along with an aftermarket exhaust, I am actually looking at making a turn down exhaust next which would flow even better....
I sent Mike a message asking if he would have to adjust the tunes for a larger TB and he said I would be good with the tunes that I already have.
That would be nice to have Mike dyno it to check if there are actual gains, if he was willing and able of course. I should talk to BBK and see if they are willing to work with me and Ford-Trucks.com for a product review
Got a response from BBK, they are not the smartest tools in the shed or at least the person at their Tech Support email desk... Not sure how much I want it anymore..
They can not tell me how much larger their TB is compared to the stock TB, they told me to go measure mine if i want to know the difference.. They have not dyno tested it, they say "we believe you will get 10hp and a better throttle response"
without other aftermarket parts. forcing more air will need more fuel. and if you don't get a high flow headers or exhaust. it's pointless.
easiest thing is exhaust.
see, for me a bigger throttle body works because i have a whipple supercharger with long tube headers and 3" dual exhaust. i need to get the exhuast out faster.
I have spoken with mike at 5 star in the past week. Twice actually, as I had the emissions upgrade applied to my rv and needed a new tune to install. I had download issues but after all said and done got it installed, then it threw a code to check engine called back and mike again answered and we just cleared what he called a nuisance code.
Actually the rv ran better with the new code installed than it had previously.
Mustang BBK throttle bodies 65mm (4.6) swap over to our trucks... I have swapped TB's before and really the only thing I ever seemed to notice gain wise was the initial throttle response. $200 bucks could be better spent elsewhere IMO.
