Yeah, its due... Better practice what I preach, eh?? I'll be home for 2 weeks and it nice and warm, so I'll get caught up on my PM stuff... Actually, unless something happens , this will be first time I've been home for AWHILE and not had major maintenance/repairs scheduled for my entire visit!! (last time it was R&R engine for oil pan leak)

Aw shucks Pop, that's probably WVO also.
Let this be a warning for anyone considering WVO - any time ANYTHING happens to yer truck from then on, will be because of WVO!!

Here's the Leak Detector I made last year.

The guage goes from 0 to 60psi in 1psi increments.

I made a boost leak detector, and installed it where the air cleaner/air box fitting would connect. Upon applying pressure, I could feel air coming out of the dipstick tube (when I pulled the dipstick). I used low pressures and could find no leaks. Is it really safe to crank it way up as massively pressurize your crankcase? It would seem like you'd immediately either blow out the dipstick or force oil past the main seals or through somewhere else. Did I connect the leak detector in the right location?

I regulated the pressure to 20psi, but the volume of air was low, so I really doubt my engine saw anywhere near that much pressure. Presumably, if you had a boost gauge, you could see the actual pressure in the intercooler/turbo hoses?

Thanks,

Steve

I did the same thing at first. I hooked to intake tube right after air filter. I could hear leaking on passanger side, may have been dip stick.

Next time I hooked to intake tube directly on turbo. CCV hose (no ccv mod) from valve cover was open to daylight. 10 psi from compressor and air came out ccv tube. I plugged with thumb and all went quiet, so no leaks.

is it normal, if the hpop drive gear cover is bent and already leaking, for all pressure during boost leak detection procedure to escape via that spot? the leak is so bad there that i cant even build up any pressure on the gague on my air regulator.
im guessing this explains my incredibly low boost and 10mpg huh?
