255/85/16 M55's on MY dually!! (pics too)

Traded in my very bald (almost 60k miles!) Yokohama Geolander AT's for a shiny new set of Toyo M55's. The M55 is the only 10ply (E rated) tire in a 255/85/16. I was a bit worried about fronts rubbing w/no lift, but no problem! The driver's side is a little close, but mostly 'cause some hack for a Ford tech dissassembled inner fender and mud flap because my clutch position switch was bad. Go figure. It has been closer to tire than pass.-side ever since. I jus gotta get under there and reassemble it properly.

Only a few miles so far, but I love'em already! They look like they BELONG under there - sweeeeeet!

here's a couple pics...

I gotta roll a 'little' 235/85/16 up next to one of these so you can see how much bigger these really are!

You're right. You need to roll a 235 up there for comparison. Just looking at the pictures those tires look like they belong there.

Have you taken the bumps hard, or really loaded down the back yet to make sure there are no clearance issues then?

Looks good.

Yeah, I'll try to do that tonite if its still daylite when I get back to camp!

I like that they 'belong'. My favorite car designer Chip Foose likes to say "I want people to look at it, and not know exactly whats different at first."

I have a little rub at about 3/4 left turn - it just touches inner fender at mudflap. Pretty sure I can adjust the plastic there to solve that. I have a busted sway bar end link right now (new ones on back seat) so I can get'r twisted up ALOT more than normal. NO PROBLEM. I thought I may need a leveling kit, but I think it'll be FINE. That little rake is 'posed to help w/mpg's anyway, right?

They do look good. Have to admit. They don't look oversize at all.

Are they snow tires? I see the holes were studs would go. What kinda of mileage they say they will go? Are they noisy? Sorry for the ?'s.

If your rub is on the drivers side you need to fix that ASAP. Your IDM is up above the drivers front wheel well liner, and it won't like it if your tire starts spraying water up in there. Could make for a rather unpleasant walk in the rain.

Pics didn't turn out as good as I hoped, but here's a couple comparison shots:

I'll have to dig up a good profile shot of truck w/235's and stage a similar shot w/these.

update!

Wow, its been 2yrs already!! (and truck was down 6 months getting a new engine!) I've put 60k miles on these tires now - NO COMPLAINTS. They are seriously TOUGH tires. One got cut up pretty bad after a fender-bender resulted in sharp edge of bumper hitting a tire, but went another 25k miles without issue.

This truck weighs almost 9k lbs empty, but is NEVER that light. I have a 200gal aux fuel tank and then 5ver puts another 2500+ lbs on truck. I tow 5ver about 50% of the miles I drive. Sooooo, I'd expect higher mileage from a lighter rig.

I will likely buy another set. I cannot go back to the puny 235's and the M55 is still the only 255/85/16 10ply tire that is not a mud tire. I'd love to run a set of BFG KM2's, but since 95% of my driving is highway, I think the noise would get on my nerves. I'm still kinda curious what kind of miles folks get out of the BFG's on a superduty... (the M55's are pricey!)

Where are those tires made? USA, Canada, Mexico, China, etc?

They all look just like this, except one has a few chunks of tread cut out of it like I explained earlier. Yes, they are DONE!!

I would be careful that when you load them down that the dauls dont rub. When the sidwalls rub togther the heat weakens the sidewalls and you get a blow out.
