My project is a "several year" task... I went with a full sandblasting of the frame, then acid metal prep treatment, Eastwood primer, and two coats of Eastwood Extreme Chassis gloss black paint by the quart at about $40 per quart. As this was done 6+ years ago, I have used Eastwood chassis gloss black as a touch up paint (spraycan at about $14 per can) to hit a few spots that got dinged up over the past few years. I'm very happy with it!!

I was thinking of going with an asphalt base marine paint. Seems like a good choice as it is somewhat pliable and durable as hell but am always currious as to what others have used.

Back almost 20 years ago I had my frame sandblasted. Then used a brush to apply a generous coat of white zinc type primer. The primer has proved extemely durable. Several places have had spills of brake fluid that peeled off the outer paint, but the primer has never been a problem. If I had it to do over, it would be the same (and that is a rare statement).
