thump thump??

well thanks to the AWESOME new england roads its taking a beating on my truck... backed out of the driveway the other day and i heard thump then pulled forward and it thumped again like somehting was going back into place... jacked up the front end to see if i messed up the ball joints or something from the job a few weeks back. everything is super tight in the front end. core support and cab mounts are all mint? would a leaf spring shackle make that kind of noise? its more of a torquing the body kind of deal or when im turning and hit a good bump that gets it to thump. i may hear it 2 or 3 times a day.

let me know on ideas to check for. oh and its only the passenger side front thats doing it. all new ball joints and tie rods are tight and new u joints, zero slop from what i see

Have you tried to tighted the fender bolts by the hood hinge? They have been known to come loose and make a thumping sound. Easy check anyway

shackles can do it. shock bushings, loose steering gear bolts, track bar, engine mounts.
I love those thumps. Oh radius arm bushings are real common if it's 2 wheel drive. Especially for a passenger side thump.

I wouldn't think it would a shackle. You'd notice the truck sagging in direction or another.

I'd check for a broken leaf... although I had a broken leaf on mine for some time before I noticed it.

Maybe the poly inserts between the leafs came off?

ive got to check the bushings in the front end shes 4 wheel so i have this awesome scissor turd. truck sits level so probably not the hanger then. the leafs are ok, no breaks from what i can see. engine mounts are mint, engine never shakes the truck, havent noticed anything out of the ordinary.
i can try the fender bolts but, when i first got my truck the fender was loose and dont quit think the sounds are the same...last night it did it annoyingly alot. i also had alot of turning in tight spots with bumps though.

same set up as yours, doesnt sound like its a brake issue, its mainly when im backing up and turning all the way because it sounds like something is getting flexed and pushed out of place, then when i pull back forward it flexes back into place and thumps again. its really annoying. drives straight as a whistle and doesnt give me a single issue going down the road.

EBrake light/Antilock lights illuminated...all the time.

Have a soft pedal, almost to floor...she'll stop ok...
Need direction to a laundry list of "what to check" and eliminate from there...
Brake fluid level ok. No leaks noted.

AE won't help me on this one!

....What the....did I do!...meant this for a new thread!...time to go to bed..

Try the above suggestions. Needless to say it sounds stupid but does solve the issue, in many cases ... some type of fiberglass insert between fender and frame that flexes. Usually occurs when driving over uneven services (bumps) while turning into or out a driveway or parking lot.

Oil each bushing underneath till you find it. Just one at a time. If the fender bolts don't do it. Those are common. Also look for shiny rub marks by the radius arm bushings. Loose rivets etc...
