Fuel in Water ?
Hi
i have a question about the water in fuel lamp. Last year, I have bought the car and the lamp illuminate normally, but for two months i have looked in the engine compartment and i have seen the plug for the Water in Fuel Sensor Plug is not connected to the Water in Fuel Sensor, however the lamp can illuminate
How is it going ?
Thanks a lot
regards from Germany

So how's the weather in Germany? If you are wondering about water in the fuel.. just drain some into a clear jar from the hose or pipe under the engine by using using the fuel drain valve handle (yellow in color). Let the jar sit for a while and if there is water in the fuel, you will see it .

Here is a photo for reference.
The connector you see is the fuel bowl heater connector which also carries the water in fuel signal to the PCM. Since it's unplugged, it most likely means that the heater has shorted out. When that happens, the fuse blows and everything else on that circuit is deprived of power. The PCM is one of those items so the engine will just quit running.
The fix is to unplug the connector and replace the fuse and be on your way. The effectiveness of the fuel bowl heater is minimal so most people don't even notice when it's unplugged.
The water in fuel light should only come on during the self test when starting the engine and then go off. If it stays on, then you might have some crud in that connector that needs to be cleaned. If so, then clean the connector with some electrical parts cleaner in a spray can and then seal up that loose connector to avoid future issues.
Hope this helps.
