it is the fan clutch. unplugged it and it cranks right over and fires. this makes me happy.

thanks again guys!
Would you please point out the exact location of the plug in question!?

Thanks.

thats the one. open the hood, and on the left top portion of the shroud (your right if you are standing at the grill looking at the engine) the plug is pretty much out in the open and staring at you. unplug it and see if it starts.

So, did the truck crank with the old fan clutch unplugged!?
Or did it crank only after you plugged the new clutch!?

I unplugged the fan clutch and still no crank!

Thanks.

the issue with the failed clutch is that it shorts and pulls down a voltage supply. unplugging it allows the voltage supply to stay in the acceptable range for everything to function.

unplugging it should have allowed you to start the truck. unfortunately the clutch is not your issue.

More and more I am inclined to believe it is either a bad starter or a bad transmission range selector.

I intend to diagnose the issue further with an AutoEnginuity tool.

A third possibility is the ICP sensor but reaching that thing is extremely difficult for me at this time.

i learned from searching when i had my problem, that the range selector has a sweeping voltage rather than different switches, making it harder to figure out. someone had posted the voltage readings somewhere in 6.0 section, so you can tryto diag that angle with a volt meter.

if you think its the ICP sensor, i would assume its cranking and not starting? if it were the fan clutch or shifter position it would not crank at all.

The fan clutch is on the same circuit as the transmission range sensor. A short in the fan clutch/wiring can cause a no-start because of the affect on the transmission range sensor (IIRC).

Also, if someone cant get the starter to crank when jumpering the starter with the "yellow wire", then they are looking in the wrong places when looking at the fan clutch or range sensor (or at least those would be secondary issues).

I did find the voltage readings you mentioned in an earlier post of one of the members.
Can you tell me where exactly to measure the voltage of the range selector?

And no it is not cranking.

Thanks for the continued support.

HERE Is what Voltage my SGII reads for Tranny Range

It worked these are the values I came up with when I moved the gear selector
transmission range sensor values
park=140
reverse=120
neutral=100
drive=92 and remained the same threwout the driving range 12356
3rd= 46
2nd=44
1st=42

IDK Honestly if this is what you would get with a DVM IMO the Numbers should Have Fallen into the 5Volt V-Ref so Im thinking a Decimal Point

So Like PARK=1.40volt

But with SGII it dont Matter It Just need a Diffrent Value For Each Range

PCM will only engauge starter in Park oe Nuetral

Are you with ME??????^^^^^
