How much can a f60 tow?

Looking at buying a 1978 f600 4x4 dump truck. Going to put in a 8.3 cummins, but does anyone tow with one of these. Would like to tow a three axle trailer with a 545d tractor on it (about 13000 lbs).

Piece of cake. I have towed my mini excavator on a two axle trailer with my 1970 F600 that has a 345hp 428 in it. The towed weight is 14,000 lbs.

No matter the weight make sure your truck can control and stop the weight.

the main problem with what you will be towing would be the braking ! if the trailer brakes quit working and you have the dump loaded with dirt it wont stop worth a hoot ! with 3 axles ( 6 brakes ) a lot more potential for brake problems , we always liked a 2 axle trailer
ether with duals or with single with 215x17.5 tires and wheels ( axles were 8-10,000 # ).
if you use electric brakes dont go cheap on the controller !

we had C-60 with 350 and 4 spd , f-600s with 330 , 361 , 300 gas burners and all pulled ok , no speed records ! if you put that 8.3 in one it should pull a mountain down !

thanks for the reply's
What I ment to ask is what is the legal weight I can tow. right now i have a 2004 f450, and pull a 24 foot three axle gooseneck trailer with 7000 lb axle and brake on all three. I run into probelms when I tow my over built 20 foot dump trailer that has tandem duals with a henderson supension and 19.5 tires (just under 9000 lbs) I load 14000 lbs of rock or dirt and I,m wieghting in at 36,000 why over my CGVW. So my question is: is there a CGVW rating on these trucks? I haven't figured out if I'm going to take the dump bed off and put a flat bed on it and use my trailers the way they are or sell the dump trailer and mod the three axle to a pintle hitch.
thanks doug
just need a bigger truck

f600 are good for 26000 lbs legally. You need a 700. Or join the big boy club and get a class 8.. Need a CDL though, atleast here in washington..

Your way over on the 450.. I guess most people that haul around small excavators with pickups probably are overweight. Good thing the police havent caught onto that.

F6

I towed a IH TD9 dozer for years with a 1950 F6 3 axle trailer with electric
brakes. Would have been a lot better if It had a 390 in it, but it wasnt
invented yet lol.

I was pulled over by a DOT cop in Washington when I was towing my mini Excavator with my F350 dually. My GCWR was 28,000. I have a Class A license so I was ok. However, the police are starting to ticket people that are not licensed.
