blower motor problems 96 f250 5.8l 4x4 supercab
hi people. im new here and well i have a 96 f250 5.8l 4x4 supercab and i have 1 problem. well the problem is that i just got the truck and well everything works except the blower motor for the heat and air. the only thing that i found that would cause it not to work is in the interior fuse panel, the spot for that fuse has burnt. i was wondering if any of you might now what i could do to fix this. i thought of putting in my own switch for it but i dont know how that would work. the other thing i was wondering is i was wanting to change the sound of the truck with a exhaust and i dont know what to use glass packs and full 3" exhaust or flowmasters with 3" exhaust? last question, does any one know or has any one put a box for a subwoofer in this type of truck and if so where did you get the box or what size speaker did you use? and how did you build the box? any info on these subjects would be much appreciated.

The the fuse holder was burnt, there's a problem obviously, and running power straight to it without a fuse will get you a truck fire. Find out what shorted before you try to put power to the blower. Ask the previous owner if it's possible.
Use the forum search button above and you'll find a ton of exhaust help.
A small custom built box would fit under the back seat with 8's in it. Or custom build a center console with a single 10 in it. But if you do that, everything in your console will be like James Bond martinis, shaken, not stirred.

thanks buddy i appreciate the help. i will tryto find out what shorted it out, but ill probably run my own wires to the blower and do it myself just to be on the safe side. because when i looked before i found nothing. i like how responsive this site and people are on here, the last forum i was on it took forever for someone to answer.

More often than not, blower motor problems on these trucks can be traced to the blower motor resistor. Depending on how badly the fuse block is burnt, and whether or not the wiring has been damaged, it may be as simple as replacing the resistor. If you raise the hood, you'll be able to see the resistor bolted into the heater box with two small screws. IIRC, it'll have a four wire plug going to it.
If you wire the blower motor directly to a switch (fused, of course), you'll be stuck with high speed only. I'd trace the problem and fix it correctly.

The only way to wire up the blower motor and retain multiple speed options is with a switch that has multiple "ON" leads (a selector switch) and appropriately sized resistors on those leads.
You can check the resistor with a multimeter, but it's usually pretty evident whether or not it has failed once you pull it from the heater box. Your local auto parts store should carry them.

i dont see a resistor there the only thing that is near the blower motor location is a plug with four wires near where th hoses come out for the a/c. but it is just a plug that plugs into to the end that is molded in that area. and nothing looks like it has been moved or cut.
Not sure what you're referring to. The only custom console I have is in my XR7.
