A little help PLEASE, I need a

drawing of the tranny in my 2011 F350 4x4 SD, I think it a 6R_______ something, obviously the 6 speed automatic.
Dealership had to email Ford corporate to find out where the correct speed sensore was located. He, olong with me, thought it would be on the differential (but that the ELOC) or on the output shaft of the tranny. Turns out his computer screen showed it inside the tranny, it "appeared" you have to remove the bottome pan, then remove the valve body to get at the sensor.

They don't have the sensor and they have never had to change one yet so nobody was any help, ..... shocker! I can't find anything online of the tranny though and I've got to pull my 5th wheel to Myrtle Beach next Thursday, so I need to handle it Saturday if possible.

6R140 is the trans designation.

And a ford transmission tech didn't know where the sensor was?

I'd take it to another dealer.

I didn't say "ford transmission tech", I was talking with service writer and parts manager.
They've never changed one or even ordered one yet. I didn't get a actual technician, and if I did they probably won't let me look at the repair book/website to get the info, they want money to fix it. I'm sure they have access to it, but I'm hoping someone here may have access to it and can share.

Are they no longer in the tail shaft housing of the transmission, or rear output shaft of the transfer case?

Must have been a code if you think the sensor is gone? I’m thinking P0720 if you suspect the output shaft sensor? Remember that this sensor might not be the only one that determines the display on the Speedometer.

My last Dealer’s Service Adviser and Parts Manager thought he was smarter then a Google Expert. They don’t work there any more. <O></O>

Wow!! I've got a weekend full of reading. Well I guess I won't read it all but it does give me a good direction.
The symtom's are:
Flashing on screen "Service Advance Trac", "Hill Decent Control FAULT" and the speedo needle jumping all over.
The first time it happened I was at a red light, I could hear and feel clunking and it turned out the tranny was shifting to try and match the speedo jumping around. I pulled it into manual to make it stop. After I shut it off it was okay for a couple days.
Next time I was driving about 45-50 and it started beeping again and it started applying one or more brakes. The truck started pulling hard to the right and slowing down quickly. I was in traffic so I pulled it into manual again and powered through it. I shut it off and it went away again.

I'm hoping its the output shaft speed sensor, that way I don't have to pull the valve body. I only have one sensor anyway. Do you know if you pull the valve body springs and ball bearings will start dropping out? That's my biggest concern, that I won't get them put back in correctly if I have to pull it.

I’m not an Expert but you would get a "P" code for a faulty sensor. I’ve seen this problem on the forum before. I believe that all the faults and the speedo jumping come from the TCM module. I don’t think the problem is in your transmission.

I don’t have time right now, but if you use the “Search Feature” on this forum, I’m sure you will find a few older threads.

I agree, doesn't sound like a sensor problem.

Thanks a lot!!
I did a search last week and found one other post from 6/13/14 and no resolution with his yet. I have almost the same as the guy's video except mine is flashing the same messages but not setting it as a permanent fault. I also get the speedo neddle jumping up and down

I posted in that thread hoping he has gotten Ford to figure it out. I appreciate you finding it and posting here! I'll do a more detailed search on the warnings of each message and keep digging.

EDIT:
I do have the H&S MM tuner and it also scans codes, but no codes there either. I'll double check if it was set default to scan ECM and try to make it scan TCM.

I assume you tried returning to factory tune? Without DPF of course....or reinstalling the tune you run?

I can't tune to stock without going back to stock, but I did retune again in case it got corrupt, no such luck. After driving to Florida acted up but no codes, after going to Myrtle Beach it acted up and finally put out and stored 2 codes.

U0073 Control Module Communication Bus Off
U0121 Lost Communication with anti-lock Brake System (AB8) Control Module

Any help on this?

This sounds like a wheel speed sensor failure, or other short in the brake circuit to me. I know Raptors would experience this problem with a leaky center brake light causing corrosion in the brake light.

If you can, get an OBDII connector hooked up to a laptop (either bluetooth or USB) and use this program: Forscan to read the codes from the ABS module. This should help you pinpoint the issue further.

Your Minimaxx won't be able to pull codes for anything outside of the ECM/TCM.

Thanks, I'll get the connection or get my buddy to scan it. I just figured the MM was scanning everything.

Guessing? But the two "U" faults leads me to believe that something is stopping the CAN BUS to communicate with a module or the module is bad. Have you tried the "Engineering Test Mode" it might pull up more codes. A scanner wouldn't bring up a code if the ABS module is bad I would assume.

It won't, but it will say that you can't connect to a module, which should be a big red flag.
