I have a 2009 f-250 cc auto, I just bought a new to me 5th wheel and drug it from denver to summit county, weight is close to 10500 lbs I am running the spartan 210 dpf off tune (truck has had tune for about 7000 miles) thought I would be in exhaust temp hell not so!
was running about 65 mph when I hit that long climb from denver was watching exhaust tempA no problems, when I crested the hill (about 7 miles?) I was at close to 80 mph(light throttle, just enough to kick down) and no high temp alarms or anything.I had been worried about the tune and a heavy load, boy am I happy with my truck now!
getting rid of the DPF with the spartan tune was the best thing I have ever done.props to spartan and ford, the EPA can bite me
Wow the 210 is a pretty healthy hit in power. What was the temp outside? tranny temp?
Congrats I want to do this soon though I will be pulling with the 40 hp tune, this truck was already a torque monster.
I have almost 40,000 hard Spartan tuned miles on my truck now. With 99% of them running the 210 tune. I also tow extremely heavy often with my truck, so I think it is pretty safe to tow just about anything with. Or so it seems so in my case.
thanks for the tire reminders,as for the temp outsideit was around 50 in denver and around 25 at the johnson tunnel trans temp did not go above 190ish engine oil temp did get to around 225
No sweat, the 210 tune has all of the stock safeties in place. It'll shut itself down before things get out of control...Go for the 250 tune and you're on your own!
yep, I get all worked up about getting a Spartan, decide I am going to call them by the weekend and then something stupid happens like my climate control acting up so I get scared again about the warranty.
caprang take it in first then get spartanized. Just got my blower door actuators fixed and i'm spartan again. You'll will be amazed at the difference. I drive mine easy but its still so much smoother and breaths sooo easy
