Marmon-Herrington F-3 Surfaces on Ford Barn

The below truck has surfaced over on the Ford Barn for sale. It's in Mt. Vernon, WA. Since I'm out here now for Thanksgiving I talked to the owner to see if it might be a parts truck. After seeing the pics it looks too good to part out IMHO. Owen (1952) has seen the truck and says it has rust from spending its life along the pacific coast, but it sure doesn't seem that bad based on what we see in the "rust belt". But, of course, the pics might not tell the whole story. The owner has an asking price of $3500 which is probably flexible. I have no financial interest. Only want to see another one get saved. Here's the Ford Barn thread that has the contact info, and pics. Stu

Just curious, why does the rear axle appear to be so far forward? Is that typical of the M-H conversions?

Probably typical of all F-2/3s. The rear M-H lift blocks are centered the same as on the two wheel drive trucks. I do agree that visually the wheels look like they sit forward of the fender opening. Stu

My stock F-2's rear axle sets forward of center. That's how they all seem to look.

That looks alot better than what i thought it was gonna Stu. Looks alot better than the one i drug home from Nebraska to, but then again i didnt have to go to the left coast to get it. did you go see it Stu and get the numbers etc., or are those the pics from Ford Barn? maybe i should call him and see if he wants to part with those rear spacers! lol. And can someone shed some light on those front blinkers mounted on the fenders. i bought a front clip that has those blinkers and my hot-rod neighbor thinks they are FORD pieces and may be somewhat collectable. i would have no idea. good find Stu, now could you find me those spacers and 3 of those 16in. Budds. Thanks in advance! lol

Well, Stu, since you're in the neighborhood, you might as well take it home with you. And if it needs a cab or something, stop by my place on the way (and I would be on the way) and I'll fix you up.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Mark- He's gonna email me his numbers. Those rear spacers would probably come attached to a truck I think. Your truck is what I had in mind when I said it was way better than a parts truck. Those blinkers are pretty common, but I think they are after market.

Wayne - sheet metal isn't the hard part on this. I've told him (Jeff) what the potential problem areas on them are so he can know whether it is sound or not. Things a potential buyer would need to know. Stu

Hope I'm doing this right. My 56 Merc. c.o.e. has the same front signals and a stock oem signal switch. This makes me wonder if they were maybe a factory or dealer instale.
