Superduty axle swap

So I think my rear end is going out on my 01 V10. I'm getting a faint grinding feeling when I go around turns. Instead of replacing spider gears and possibly the ring and pinion I would rather swap in a complete axle. I know I have 3.73:1 gears and I would like to keep it that way. So are all super duty axles the same or are the later model one different? I'm trying to find one with posi or a locker. Anyone have experience swapping the rear end on their truck? Thanks in advance

No one got back to you on this...if it ain't a thread with pictures showing you mudding your truck, your post gets over looked.

The SD came with three gear ratios, 3.73, 4.10 and 4.30 IIRC. The best way to find out what you have...and check on what you need to get, or are getting it to get the part number off the axle. I know with Dana axles you can punch that number into their webpage and it will spit out everything you want to know about every part in that axle.

I don't know what rear these trucks have as I am very new here...it takes ALOT of research on your own to get answers to techincal questions....

You can see here in this thread,

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/4...mplete-10.html

I had to id my axle and what not and how I did it. But this is for the front...the rear is got to be similar... see if you can locate the part number.

If that rear end is a traction lock try changing the oil and adding 2 bottles of friction modifier. When the modifier goes away the clutches can get really noisy on turns.
