Ok so I recently bought a 95 F150 with the 4R70W trans. At first I thought I had an idling problem, so I did possibly everything I could to the motor. I did a tune up, new IAC, TPS, checked timing replace vacuum lines and still no fix. Talked to a few people that were having similar problems and they suggested I look into my transmission and TC. Some even said that it sounded like a TC issue and a co worker went through excatly what I am going through and he replaced his TC and his problems were corrected. SO he is my issue, when the truck is idling there is a slight shake, but if I put the trans in gear and hold the brake the shaking gets worse and the idle drops to around 600rpm. The longer I hold the brake the more it shakes. Once I start to drive it goes away but at around 30-45 mph it feels like my front tires are out of balance. Also once I am going about 45 the OD kicks in and the truck seems like it falls on its face! If I get back in the throttle it takes about 2-3sec before it takes off. Also while at idle in park if I press the gas it goes to 1200rpm and stumbles and I have to give it more gas just to get the rpm up to around 1800rpm before it stops and then the RPMs take off, not mention horrible gas mileage. The PO had AAMCO install a reman trans and TC but that was about 20,000miles ago. So this past weekend I drained the pan, TC and installed new filter, fluid and Lucas trans fix. The roughness was still there, the next morning I go to start the truck and now I have a fast clicking noise(sounds like a tattoo machine) at around 1200rpm all the way till the engine drowns out the noise, when I am driving it is there under light acceleration( I rechecked to see if anything was hitting the flywheel or anything else). So this afternoon I called the trans shop that did the work and he said it sounded like the TC locking solenoid was bad, however when I get under the truck the noise is coming directly below the TC. Also I have no codes. Has anyone had any similar issues like this with a TC. Also I am going to do the work myself and kind of on a budget(4kids and xmas coming up) but is there anything I should change out or replace if I have to open the trans up, mainly springs, j-mod, solenoids?
I hate AAMCO!!! If there is any warranty left, take it back to them. If not, I'd take it to a GOOD local shop that does tranny work. Find out who the local dealers send there work to.....
