+1 on that little piece of business. Sometimes they get dirty and act up.
My truck had the same symptoms, took it off and though nothing appeared wrong (it was quite clean), it had failed.
Memory serves, it had 2 bolts holding it to the rear of the upper intake/plenum.

I'm having issues with mine although I have a High idle. It runs at 1100 to 1200 rpms. Took it off and sprayed it out with contact cleaner and put back on.. now I run at 2200 rpms at idle, now the truck is out of commission until the auto parts store opens in the morning so I can buy a new one. On a side note it is held on by two bolts that require a 5/16" wrench, although I used a nut driver after I loosed it with a wrench. It was also easier for me to remove it from the driver's side.
