63 merc M100 truck
Hello all,
I am brand new here. I have recently acquired a project truck. A sweet lil '63 Mercury M100.
I am trying to search the numbers on the ID tag. I cannot determine anything from the sites I've been on. The numbering system seems different.
199-102 28L- 166088A I'd also like to know the original colour RR trim06
Can any please help? Thanks!

Welcome to FTE
19910228L-166088A / RR / 06.
mercurypickup.com has the VIN info, the only Canadian VIN I can properly decode is 1965. 1966/68 is the same sequence as US trucks.
All I can tell you is: 1 is the engine code (dunno which size) / 99 is a Styleside Pickup / 102 is the series = 100 / 28 is the wheelbase = 128" / L = Left Hand Drive.
166088 is the 1963 Numerical Sequence of Assembly (the trucks specific serial number) / A is the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating Range = 3,600 thru 5,600 lbs.
What RR and 06 refer to in 1963, I haven't a clue.

good to hear from a fellow 'pegger, even if I have lived in Vancouver for the past twenty odd years, AND a fellow Merc truck owner! My family is from the Stonewall area. You'll get lots of help and info on this site. I'm going to ask you to keep your eyes open for any M250's you might come across in junk yards, fields, etc. I'm looking for a 1965 tailgate in particular! Hard to find. And the M250 fender badges that also say twin I-Beam. Willing to pay a pretty penny as they are scarcer than hen's teeth. Good luck with your M100 - post some photos, eh?

Right on! Greetings from the home province!I'm also from Stonewall butlive in Wpg now. Some of my family still live there. This my 2nd project truck. I had a '60 F100 which I sold in the spring to buy my motorbike. It needed a lot more work.This'63 came to me through my sister a few weeks ago so I guess I'm meant to have it! I plan to search all local parts dealers next spring I can certainly keep an eye out for your tailgate!
