What Kind of Car is That? It’s a Ford!

Ford GT London

Back when now-defunct Saturn was making cars, General Motors aired commercials where people would drive by car carries with Saturns on it and have them yell, “Hey, what kind of car is that!?” The truck driver would yell back, “It’s a Saturn!”

While the Ford GT is hardly a Tupperware-bodied Saturn, they recently pulled a similar stunt in central London. They parked a new Ford GT on the street with the badges covered up and asked what brand people thought the car was.

Being Great Britain, a number of people suggested the home country manufacturer McLaren. Others, including children, guessed Ferrari. All of the big name supercar makers were mentioned, but nobody could come up with it being Ford.

They all see mostly shocked to learn that it’s Ford building this supercar. For us enthusiasts, we know right away what car it is, but for many the design is so different from what Ford has done in the past that it’s hard to tell what it is.

It’s also one of the few modern day supercars that I believe are worth of being pinned on a child’s wall. Let’s get those kids some posters while they’re ogling the car!
