2017 Ford F-150 Raptor Prototype Testing at Silver Lake Sand Dun

Send in the drones! That was the order from Ford during a recent round of performance testing for the 2017 Ford Raptor in Silver Lake, Michigan. Silver Lake has over 2,000 acres of sand dunes in western Michigan, so it makes sense to send the Raptor there for testing. Check it out!

Now drone footage has some positives and some negatives. The video looks cool, like the time we landed a drone in a F-150. But you also don’t really get to experience much sound other than the whirring of the rotors.

Now, Ford claims that this is “work” and they are “testing” the new truck. Actually, the probably are, but it looks like they are having a whole heck of a lot of fun testing the new truck. If they need a test driver, I officially volunteer for the task!

Also remember folks, this is a prototype and doesn’t look like the final product.

The Raptor launch is definitely a slow tease, but since it’s not due to arrive in dealerships until next year it’s no surprise. It’s awesome that Ford decided to show us the Raptor back in January, and I can’t wait for the opportunity to drive it!
