Traditional Approach

Early F-Series pickups have always been popular with hot rodders, thanks to their simplistic nature, curvy lines, and timeless looks. But while trends come and go, taking a more traditional approach is always the best bet when it comes to modifying any vehicle. And that's precisely what the owner of this old school cool 1949 Ford F1 did before putting it up for sale at AutoHunter.

Tasteful Mods

The exterior of this classic Ford features a vast array of traditional hot rod/street rod modifications, including a head-turning green paint job, a chrome front bumper and front grille, headlight bezels, and side mirrors, teardrop-style taillights, and a custom rear valence that takes the place of the deleted rear bumper.

Finishing Touch

The wooden bed has been completely redone and is fitted with polished hardware for a show-ready look. But the owner chose to retain the factory steel wheels, paint them tan, and fit them with chrome baby moon center caps and trim rings for a timeless appearance. The wheels are wrapped in equally timeless wide whitewall tires for the perfect finishing touch.

Modern Upgrades

Though it may not look like it on the outside, there are a lot of additional custom and modern components present elsewhere on this F1. That includes the gorgeous tan interior, which features later-model GM pickup bucket seats, custom door panels and a revamped dashboard, a tilt steering column, a modern stereo system, and air conditioning.

Family Tree

While many classic Ford trucks are fitted with GM powerplants, this '49 keeps it in the family with a rebuilt Blue Oval 302 V8. The FoMoCo mill looks great too, thanks to Cobra valve covers, an Edelbrock hi-rise intake and carb, stainless steel hoses, and an aluminum radiator. Power flows through an AOD four-speed automatic transmission back to a Ford 9-inch rear end for a super reliable and easy-to-drive combination.

Upgraded Chassis

The classic Ford F1 rides on a brand new TCI chassis that's been fully boxed and painted to match the truck's exterior. It features a Mustang II front suspension with tubular A-arms, as well as power steering and power front disc brakes to make it drive, handle, and stop like a dream.
