More Than Skin Deep

To us, there aren't many cooler vehicles on the planet than an old Ford panel truck. Originally designed to haul goods for small businesses, these panels make killer hot rods these days. And this beautiful '56 that we spotted over at GAA Classic Cars has much more than just great looks going for it.

Special Power

Instead of your average, run-of-the-mill 302 or 351, this '56 packs 5.4-liters of all-aluminum SVT supercharged V8 power under the hood. The engine sports an Eaton supercharger up top, which is the main factor in an output that reaches 650 horsepower at the crank and 520 at the wheels.

Fast Delivery

The engine breathes through a Magnaflow exhaust and sends power back to a 6-speed manual transmission. The drivetrain, including the rear axle, was all lifted straight from a previous-gen Mustang Shelby GT500. And it certainly makes this panel capable of quick deliveries.

Lots of Amenities

On the inside, you'll find lots of niceties including custom oak wood floors, air conditioning, Dakota gauges, a wood-rimmed banjo steering wheel, Ididit steering column, and black leather and tweed covering the factory bench seat.

Smooth Riding

The old Ford also rides on a slew of modern suspension components. They include a 4-link rear setup, QA1 coilovers at all four corners, four-wheel disc brakes, and a custom frame. The whole thing rolls on 20" rear and 19" front factory GT500 wheels, which are wrapped in Continental Contact rubber.

Shades of Grey

The body of this panel truck is all steel, which is always a bonus. It's also covered in an attractive shade of grey and fitted with Shelby badges. Which seems appropriate given the number of GT500 components that grace it inside and out.

Perfect Package

Overall, this '56 Ford is one seriously smooth operator that looks as good as we imagine it drives. And that completes what is essentially a perfect package. By combining the best of what the Blue Oval has to offer in style and performance, you've got a machine destined to win over anyone.
