Restored 1955 Ford F-100 Stays True to Its Roots
Preserving what makes this '55 F-100 so special in the first place was the driving goal behind its restoration.
Preserving the Past
Everybody has their own idea of what to do with an old Ford truck. Some prefer to keep them original. Others like to modify them slightly or even radically. But in the case of this beautiful '55 F-100 we spotted over at Hemmings, the previous owner chose to preserve what made the pickup so special in the first place. But that doesn't mean it's 100% original, mind you.

Awesome Find
According to the listing, this F-100 was purchased at an estate sale in Colorado. At that point, it had been sitting in a garage in completely original condition for over 30 years. The new owner quickly decided to give it a proper restoration, using the original sheet metal and bringing it up to show truck standards.

Color Change
Luckily for him, this F-100 hadn't been driven much over the years and had zero rust. So the new owner had a pretty nice clean sheet to work with. He proceeded to redo all the chrome, refinish the body, and replace all the rubber and glass. But he did decide to make one, non-original change. Instead of repainting the F-100 its original green hue, he went with a teal metallic tint.

Mostly New
The new color carries on into the cab, where you'll also find a freshly recovered bench seat and new door panels, carpet, and headliner. The instrument panel was in such great shape that it didn't need any work, however. The previous owner didn't even bother adding a radio, as this truck didn't come with one in the first place.

Finishing Touches
Everything else in the cab is functional and either new or refurbished. The same goes for the bed, where you'll find a fresh wood floor and new stainless strips. The truck was then refitted with a set of 15-inch wheels with covers wrapped in Hankook tires for the finishing touch.

Total Rebuild
Pop the hood, and you'll find Ford's familiar 239 cubic-inch OHV Y-block V8. The seller notes that he was told at the time of purchase that this was the original engine and that it's never been removed from the frame. Regardless, the new owner did pull it and treat it to a total rebuild.

Deserved Kudos
We're not completely sure what kind of condition this F-100 was found in, but we have to imagine that it wasn't nearly this nice. So kudos to the buyer for giving it the attention it so deserves. And extra kudos for keeping it mostly original throughout that long and tedious process!
