Familiar Story

The story of this particular '76 Ford F-100 is one that should be familiar to most truck fans. The original owner of this pickup, which we spotted over at Bring a Trailer, purchased it new and kept it until 2015. Along the way, the F-100 received a host of updates and mods, which is also pretty normal. But the result of all that work is one very unique, outdoor-focused build.

Host of Mods

Originally painted Hatteras Green Metallic, this F-100 was later repainted in a darker green hue. But that's probably not the first thing that'll grab your eye when going over the truck. Instead, you'll undoubtedly notice the host of add-ons present, including a Superwinch Terra Series winch, a fiberglass Lund sun visor with clearance lights, and a high-lift off-road jack.

Storage Space

An aluminum camper shell covers the long bed and features rear lighting and a pair of locking doors. On top of that, you'll find a PVC roof rack that holds water and all the stuff you'll need for an outdoor shower. Throw in a tailgate with mounting hardware, and this F-100 sure looks like it could spend some serious time out in the wilderness.

Normal Cab

Inside the cab, you'll find a mostly stock interior including a black bench seat, rubber floor mats, and the original dash and door panels. The original owner did add a more modern Pioneer stereo and CB radio, which could come in handy given the truck's adventurous nature.

Useful Stuff

Pretty standard stuff, for the most part. The interior color is a lighter shade of green than the exterior, and we presume that it's the original hue. Regardless, some more useful stuff includes a set of auxiliary gauges for oil pressure, voltage, coolant temperature, and manifold vacuum that have been mounted under the dash.

Trusty Power

A non-original 351 Windsor V8 powers this cool old rig, and features a few mods including an Edelbrock aluminum intake manifold and four-barrel carb. The engine benefits from a slew of recent maintenance has undergone a recent compression test and has an extra fuel tank for those long excursions.

Carrying the Torch

This old F-100 may not be perfect by any means, but it's most certainly a unique and cool vehicle. At least one of its previous owners clearly enjoyed taking the truck outdoors as much as possible, and we'd like to imagine that the new owner will carry on that tradition for years to come.
