Going Off-Road

Kindred Motorworks is one of the newer makers of Bronco restomods out there, but managed to carve out a niche by offering the first version that pairs Ford's Coyote V8 with a hybrid system. Now, that same outfit has revealed the next chapter in its new/old Bronco conversions - an off-road-focused version it calls the Trail Edition.

Tasteful Upgrades

As is usually the case with these types of builds, the Bronco Trail Edition is based on the first-generation version of the iconic SUV, built from 1966-1975. However, unlike some other, similar offerings, it doesn't try to reinvent the wheel in terms of its exterior appearance - rather, the Trail Edition looks like a super nice, tastefully updated original.

Notable Changes

Aside from the typical lifted suspension, cut rear fenders, fender flares, larger wheels, and BFGoodrich all-terrain tires, the Bronco Trail Edition also features front and rear impact bumpers, a Warn Zeon 10-S winch, and provisions for another winch and a tire carrier out back.

Multiple Options

A grand total of 10 exterior colors are available, and buyers can choose from different hues for parts such as the grille, top, and fender flares, including white - which mimics the original, as well as the Heritage Edition sixth-gen.

Comfy Cabin

As one might imagine, the interior is a nice place to be as well, with a host of modern amenities including leather Recaro bucket seats, power accessories, a Bluetooth stereo system, and a backup camera, while Kindred is happy to offer a dizzying array of color options and other optional upgrades.

Modern Mechanicals

Riding on a coil spring suspension, the Bronco Trail Edition has also been upgraded with four-wheel disc brakes, giving it a truly modern feel - particularly since it's also equipped with the Coyote V8, making it both plenty powerful and reliable to boot.

Pricey Proposition

Add it all up, and the Kindred Ford Bronco Trail Edition is certainly another compelling option in what is an already pretty crowded market full of restomodded SUVs. The only downside, as one might imagine, is that all of this goodness doesn't come cheap, with a starting price tag of $179,000 that only goes up when you tick boxes and add options.
