Gateway Bronco Builds a Carbon Fiber $800K Masterpiece
For those that want the ultimate Ford Bronco restomod, Gateway Bronco's Luxe-GT might be it.
Building the Perfect Restomod
Gateway Bronco has been churning out some of the finest restomod examples of everyone's favorite SUV for years now, though there's only one problem - they're obviously rather expensive. However, it seems as if the quest to build the perfect Bronco restomod hasn't stopped yet, because Gateway's latest offering - the Luxe-GT - sold out its very first year of production recently in spite of its eye-watering price range of between $400k-$800k, depending on options.

Clean Slate Design
The Luxe-GT started out shrouded in secrecy, developed by a Skunk Works team in Melbourne, Australia, under the code name "Pegasus" prior to its recent reveal. However, while it looks like a first-generation Bronco, there isn't much here that remains from the original SUV. "For 'Project Pegasus,' we remastered the vintage Ford Bronco by keeping the essence of the classic SUV but elevated to modern-day standards using the latest technology and safety features," said Gateway Bronco CEO Seth Burgett. "Our development team was chartered to create the best vintage Ford Bronco on the planet and after four years and millions invested into research and development, we overshot that target. Instead, we landed on the world stage with a vintage Ford Bronco that performs with the best sports SUVs the world has to offer."

Modern Amenities
Gateway offers a dizzying array of options when it comes to the Luxe-GT, meaning that no two are likely to share a whole heck of a lot in common. Regardless, there are obviously some shared components, including those classic looks, a full-time all-wheel drive system, anti-lock brakes, electronic stability control, and even traction control - just like a brand-new vehicle.

Interior Amenities
Aside from some fine and rather attractive materials like all-weather denim, the interior is chock full of modern amenities and various other features as well. That list includes things like a push-button start system, a four-point roll bar, a Focal Studio sound system, a large infotainment screen with Bluetooth, a backup camera, air conditioning, power windows, Birdseye maple wood, and even soft close doors.

Pricey Bodywork
On the outside, one can opt for full carbon fiber bodywork, which helps shed quite a bit of weight, but also essentially doubles the price - hence the lofty $800k top-end figure. It remains to be seen how many people ultimately tick that pricey box, but it's certainly an enticing option for those with the means who want the best of everything on their Bronco restomod.

Solid Performer
Otherwise, the Luxe-GT offers up plenty of retro appeal thanks to its original looks, paired with vintage-appearing 18-inch wheels wrapped with BFGoodrich K02 tires. Under the hood, one will find the trusty, modern 5.0-liter Coyote V8, which gives the restomod plenty of reliable power, with a 0-60 time of 5.3 seconds.

Hot Market
The Gateway Bronco Luxe-GT will obviously only be produced in scant quantities - 25 units per year, to be exact - it clearly struck a chord with fans, selling out its first year of production shortly after its reveal at Monterey Car Week. However, that also proves that the market for fine restomods hasn't dried up yet, and doesn't appear likely to do so anytime soon, either.
