Spectacular Stunt

Ford and Red Bull have teamed up for quite a few motorsports endeavors over the years, but that relationship has only intensified as of late. The 2026 season will mark the debut of a brand new Ford power unit in the Oracle Red Bull Racing team's Formula 1 car, in fact, and the same duo just secured a second- and third-place finish at the 2026 Dakar Rally in the Ford Raptor T1+ racer, too. Now, Ford and Red Bull have kicked off a new tour with a pretty spectacular stunt.

New Tour

Ford and the famous energy drink maker are teaming up to put on what's known as the Red Bull Showrun, a traveling tour that will hit multiple U.S. states in the coming weeks. The very first event was just held in San Francisco, California, at Marina Green, but before it began, Ford and Red Bull treated us to a pretty wild stunt.

Impressive Feat

That stunt involved off-road racer Mitch Guthrie Jr. driving the Ford Raptor T1+ at 45 miles-per-hour over a 5-degree ramp, launching it in the air and over rallycross champion and former Formula 1/ NASCAR driver Scott Speed and the Oracle Red Bull Racing RB7 Formula 1 car on Broadway street. While the T1+ flew over the F1 car, Speed ripped off a few donuts for extra effect.

Nationwide Tour

Guthrie and Speed were joined by Red Bull Test and Reserve Driver Yuki Tsunoda, as well as freestyle motorcyclist Aaron Colton at the very first Red Bull Showrun, which is slated to head to Atlanta next, followed by a handful of other as-of-yet-unnamed U.S. cities. The event is free to the public, and you don't even have to have a ticket to attend.

Bespoke Goods

As for the Raptor T1+ itself, it's the latest iteration of Ford's racing truck, and it just wrapped up a second stint at Dakar. It's a purpose-built, non-street-legal machine with a bevy of bespoke goodies, including Fox adjustable bypass dampers that can provide up to 350mm (13.78 inches) of wheel travel, a T45 steel spaceframe, and carbon fiber body panels, along with 37-inch tires.

Powertrain

In terms of power, that comes from a familiar place - Ford's 5.0-liter Coyote V8, which utilizes a dry-sump oil system, but is limited by regulations to around 360 horsepower, flowing to all four wheels via a 6-speed sequential transmission.

Trickle Down Effect?

Ford is using its racing efforts these days to develop technology for its road-going vehicles, as we've already seen with the Mustang GTD. As for what might trickle down from the T1+, that list is pretty long, too - a version of its dampers could certainly be used in road-going Raptor models, along with the real-time, terrain-adaptive software that optimizes them.

Then there's durability testing conducted on the Coyote powerplant, which takes quite a lot of abuse out in the ultra-hot, super-sandy desert. The T1+'s specialized cooling systems, thermal management, and structural rigidity could influence future models, which is also true of Ford's light weighting efforts.
