Ford F-150 Tremor Hits The Sweet Spot For Off-Road Fans
Ford's new F-150 Tremor is the gap-filler that the automaker (and consumers) need.
Gap Filler
When Ford introduced the all-new 2021 Ford F-150 Tremor earlier this month, it wasn't a massive surprise. After all, the automaker already has a Ranger Tremor coming for the new model year, and the Super Duty Tremor debuted last year. But the F-150 Tremor is an important gap-filler in the automaker's lineup, as well as a needed piece to battle some established competition.

Both Ends
Currently, those that want a little more off-road capability in their F-150 have a couple of choices - they can opt for the FX4 package, which is fairly mild, or go for the gusto with the Raptor. A lot of people tend to go for the former and add leveling kits and wheels and tires, but the latter is a pricey and fairly hardcore vehicle that not everyone wants or needs.

Out of the Box
Enter the F-150 Tremor. This model adds quite a few upgrades over the FX4 package, including that front-end lift and some larger wheels and tires. It looks good and packs quite a bit of off-road capability right out of the box, and that's sure to appeal to a lot of folks that don't want to buy a new truck and then pay someone else to modify if for them.

Proper Rival
Plus, though pricing hasn't yet been announced, it's a safe bet that the Tremor will be cheaper than the Raptor. And, it'll give Ford a proper rival to existing models like the Chevrolet Trail Boss, GMC Sierra AT4, Ram Rebel, and Toyota Tundra TRD Pro. The Tremor is a truck that can still tow a camper to a campsite, then head out for some exploring after it's dropped off.

Quite Appealing
And perhaps more importantly, the Tremor is yet another model designed to appeal to a growing demand for off-road-oriented vehicles. Customers, whether they actually go off-road or not, are buying up these types of vehicles more than ever these days. But if they do, the Tremor allows them to do that without having to worry too much about smashing up their new pickup or getting stuck, so long as they stick to milder trails.

Enhanced Offering
The F-150 is generally seen as a do-it-all type of vehicle, and the Tremor will only enhance that. After all, buyers are essentially giving up nothing to gain the extra capability it provides, except for the added expense of the option package, of course. And that figures to make it quite popular among truck buyers.

Looking Ahead
At the end of the day, the F-150 Tremor simply makes too much sense not to happen. The only question is - how will this affect the next-gen Raptor? We wouldn't be surprised to see that model go even more upmarket, perhaps gaining more equipment and a higher price tag to help differentiate it from the forthcoming Tremor, but we'll have to wait a bit longer to find out.
