Ford F-150 Raptor Owners Apparently Like to Tow Things
While the F-150 Raptor was designed to go off-road, it's still a pretty capable tow rig.
Tow Rig
When we think about things that Ford F-150 Raptor owners like to do in their trucks, we typically think about off-roading, or just tooling around town. But the Raptor is still an F-150 with a rather powerful 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 under the hood, so it can certainly tow heavy loads as well. What we didn't realize, however, is how many Raptor owners actually do just that with their pickups.

Showing Off
We know this because quite a few folks over at the Ford Raptor Forums have posted pictures of their Raptors towing all sorts of things, from large boats to construction equipment and pretty much everything in between. It's clear that these folks use their trucks for more than one purpose, and certainly more than just showing off in the local grocery store parking lot.

Still a Truck
We often like to talk about how trucks like the modern-day F-150 are do-it-all vehicles, and this just proves it even further. The Raptor is truly an all-around capable vehicle, one that can go just about anywhere (in a hurry, we might add), but Ford hasn't taken away its basic truck-ness in the process.

Testing the Limits
It's also refreshing to see truck owners using them as intended since a lot of folks complain that modern truck owners don't do those sorts of things. But here, we can see that even people who dish out big bucks for a bespoke model like the Raptor don't mind actually testing their limits.

Solid Numbers
Of course, the Raptor has lower towing and payload ratings than its regular F-150 brethren, mostly due to the truck's off-road-focused suspension bits. The second-gen crew cab model can tow 8,000 pounds and has a maximum payload capacity of 1,200 pounds, however, which is still pretty solid.

Exceeding the Ratings
Some of these photos certainly look like the owners are exceeding those ratings, which is not advised but obviously possible. These sorts of things can harm the truck and make it quite dangerous to drive, of course. But it only emphasizes the fact that the Raptor is no slouch in any way, shape, or form.

Multi-Use
At the end of the day, we're just happy to see that folks who dish out big bucks for a capable truck like the F-150 Raptor aren't just using them as mall crawlers. Or, in this case, more than just the off-road destroyers they were designed to be.
