Europe-Only Ranger MS-RT Brings Back the Sport Truck
Ford resurrects the long-dead sport truck in Europe with this stylish new Ranger variant.
Return of a Legend
There was a time, not too long ago, when sport trucks ruled the earth. Instead of lifted, four-wheel-drive, off-road-focused pickups, enthusiasts wanted lowered trucks with performance upgrades and big wheels and tires. Today, that's all changed, of course, but Ford is bringing back the sport truck in Europe with the new Ranger MS-RT.

High-End, Street-Focused
Ford teamed up with design specialists MS-RT for the project, which they've done a few times in the past, with the idea of giving the Ranger a motorsport-inspired appearance. The goal was to make a high-end, street-focused version of Europe's best-selling truck that sits atop the lineup, right next to the Ranger Raptor, and it appears that's exactly what they've done.

Solid Base
The Ranger MS-RT is based on the Ranger Wildtrak and is available in SuperCab or SuperCrew configuration. To that base, Ford added a hand-built front fascia featuring a honeycomb carbon fiber-effect grille and integrated fog lights, 20-inch OZ Racing alloy wheels, extended wheel arches, sculpted side skirts, carbon fiber-effect mirror caps, an aerodynamic load bar, and MS‑RT badges. Color choices include Frozen White, Sea Grey, or Agate Black.

Interior Upgrades
Inside, the Ranger MS-RT has been upgraded with premium leather trim with contrast orange stitching, ambient lighting, heated front seats, and MS-RT detailing on the floor mats and scuff plates, to go along with SYNC 3 connectivity and an 8-inch touchscreen.

Drivetrain
The Ranger MS-RT is powered by Ford's 2.0-liter bi-turbo EcoBlue diesel engine, which produces 213 PS (210 hp) and 500nm (369 pound-feet) of torque. The oil burner is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission and a selectable four-wheel-drive system. Despite its street focus, the MS-RT has a max payload rating of 1,098 kg (2,420 pounds) and a max tow rating of 3,500 kg (7,716 pounds).

Sporty Sound
For those that desire a bit of sporty sound from their sporty Ranger MS-RT, a Maxhaust app-controlled soundbox is available as a dealer-installed option as well. But none of this should come as a surprise given the fact that MS-RT has World Rally Championship-winning experience.
