Crappy Job

Trucks were designed to do the dirtiest jobs on the planet from day one, serving as thankless workhorses in a variety of roles. But the Ford F-550 Super Duty you see before you has perhaps the crappiest job of any truck in history - both literally and figuratively. That's because it's sole purpose is to empty toilets located along the Rubicon Trail, and it was built specifically for that difficult and rather unglamorous duty.

Poop Truck

Beyond its awful job, the story of this Super Duty "poop truck" is certainly interesting, and is covered quite nicely in this video from WFO Concepts. Prior to building this rig, El Dorado County officials used to spend a full two days emptying outhouses along the famous Rubicon Trail, as they're obviously not terribly easy to get to, scattered around one of the toughest off-road trails on earth.

Ready for Duty

The Super Duty was graciously donated to the county, and from there, they enlisted WFO Concepts out of Auburn, California to transform it into the ultimate off-road poop truck. WFO immediately got to work fortifying the truck to handle everything Rubicon has to throw at it, along with outfitting it for doodie, ahem, duty.

Starting at the Base

Those mods started with the suspension, which received a host of goodies including a four-inch lift, 40-spline RCV axle shafts, a 40-spline ARB front locker, 1/4-inch driveshafts, 5.38 gears, and PSC Hydro assist steering. The finishing touch is a set of 20-inch Stazworks super single wheels wrapped in huge 41-inch Michelin tires.

Armor Up

WFO also installed a Northwest Fab crawl box and a Warn winch before going to town outfitting this Super Duty with a ton of armor, including an exo cage, custom front, and rear bumpers, full belly skid plates, and rock sliders. They didn't bother to modify the truck's stock 6.8-liter Triton V10, however, because it has more than enough torque in stock form to handle its job.

Peak Season

The proverbial cherry on top for this big off-road rig is a massive 400-gallon poop tank mounted out back, which is obviously sufficient enough to handle whatever a large number of Rubicon visitors can provide during their stay, even in the peak summer season.

Nature Calls

This F-550 even has a 70-gallon pressure washer on board in case things get a bit out of control. So the next time you're out on the Rubicon Trail enjoying a day of off-roading when nature calls, rest assured that there's a big, tough Ford right behind you that's more than capable of handling clean up duties.
