7 Different Ford models made the cut among the most American-made on the market for 2024.
American Made
Each year, Cars.com releases its American Made Index, which highlights the most American vehicles on the market. Judges consider five criteria when coming up with this list - the assembly location of a vehicle, its parts content, the origin of its engine, where its transmission comes from, and the size and scope of the brand's U.S. manufacturing workforce. When all of that data was crunched for 2024, a number of Ford models made the cut this time around.

Ford Mustang
First up, we have the Ford Mustang, which just underwent a full redesign for the 2024 model year and is built at the Flat Rock Assembly Plant in Michigan. This year, the pony car ranked 31st on the American Made Index, the highest of any Blue Oval model.

Ford F-150 Lightning
The all-electric Ford F-150 Lightning is built right alongside its ICE counterpart at the Rouge Electric Vehicle Center in Michigan, which - coupled with its high domestic parts content - earned it 56th place on this year's American Made Index.

Ford F-150/F-150 Hybrid
Of course, the ICE Ford F-150 and F-150 PowerBoost Hybrid also made the cut, and both are produced at the Dearborn Truck Plant and Kansas City Assembly Plant. The F-150 came in 58th place this year, while the hybrid was a bit lower in 75th.

Ford Explorer
The Ford Explorer - which is built at the Chicago Assembly Plant and is undergoing a refresh for the 2025 model year - ranked 60th on this year's American Made Index, beating out a number of its rivals in the process.

Ford Escape/Escape Hybrid
The Ford Escape also just underwent a refresh for the 2023 model year and is built at the Louisville Assembly Plant in Kentucky. The small crossover ranked 72nd on this year's American Made Index, while the hybrid version fell a bit lower, to 76th place.

Ford Bronco
Next up, we have the Ford Bronco, which ranked 73rd on the 2024 Cars.com American Made Index. The rugged SUV is built at the Michigan Assembly Plant, right alongside the Ranger, and it returned for the 2021 model year following a quarter-century absence.

Ford Expedition
Finally, we have the Ford Expedition, which is built at the Kentucky Truck Plant alongside the Lincoln Navigator and Super Duty. The big SUV ranked 78th on this year's American Made Index, in both regular guise and extended-length Max form.
