These six Ford trucks have marked some significant milestones in the history of America's favorite pickup truck.
Leaving a Mark
Ford has been building trucks for well over a century to this point, and has enjoyed tremendous success in doing so, as most are well aware by now. To get to the top in this incredibly competitive industry, one has to be innovative and create products that people both want and will remember, and in that regard, these six particular models are easily the most influential of them all.

Model TT
While it isn't quite as popular among enthusiasts as the Model A or Model T pickups, the Model TT was actually Ford's first dedicated truck and a product reserved for commercial customers. This obviously set the tone for a very important market for The Blue Oval, which now counts its Ford Pro commercial business as one of the most successful in its long history.

Ford F1
The F1 debuted in 1948 as a more modern, comfortable type of truck, which obviously helped endear more customers to that segment over the years. However, the F1 is also the very first F-Series pickup ever to exist, which has since enjoyed the title of being America's best-selling vehicle for over four decades to this point.

Ford F-100
The F-100 ushered in the second generation for the F-Series when it debuted in 1953, and quickly became incredibly popular thanks to its further revisions and now-iconic styling. Today, the F-100 is still a favorite among collectors and hot rodders alike, and it also introduced a model-naming scheme that perpetuates to this day as well.

However, it wasn't until the sixth-generation F-Series debuted that the F-150 came to light. New for 1975, the F-150 was created as a middle-ground offering between the F-150 and F-250 that also helped skirt some emissions requirements at the time, but it quickly became the best-selling truck in Ford's lineup and continues to be incredibly popular to this day.

Ford Ranger
The Ford Ranger debuted in 1983 at a time when folks were seeking more fuel-efficient modes of transportation, and it was also the brand's very first compact truck designed in-house, as the Ranger replaced the Mazda-built Courier in the lineup. For the better part of 29 years, the Ranger was one of the best-selling compact pickups on the market, at least until it left North American briefly and returned as a mid-size model in 2019.

Ford Super Duty
Then there's the Ford Super Duty, which is one of the newer models in Ford's truck lineup after debuting in 1999. Differentiating its heavy-duty model from the lighter-duty variants was a genius move on Ford's part, as the Super Duty has gone on to enjoy tremendous success, generating massive profits for FoMoCo as well.
