2021 F-150 Raptor and Tremor Captured Together for the First Time
These new off-road-focused pickups offer varying degrees of capability.
Off-Road Offerings
Though the brand new 2021 Ford F-150 has only been on the market for roughly a year, the Blue Oval is wasting no time rolling out off-road-focused variants of its perennial best-seller. That includes both the third-generation F-150 Raptor and the new F-150 Tremor, which were captured together for the very first time on film by Ford's North America Product Communications director Mike Levine recently.

Similar but Different
Though they're based on the same truck and both offer more off-road capability, the Tremor and Raptor are otherwise very different, as we can see from this side-by-side comparison. What is interesting, however, is the fact that both of these trucks are pretty similar in height, even though the Raptor wears larger tires - the optional 35 inch rubber in this case, compared to 33 inches on the Tremor.

Aggressive Looks
These two trucks look very different as well, with the Raptor presenting more aggressive bodywork in the form of wide fenders, that legendary "Ford" scripted grille, a giant tailgate applique, a domed hood, big fender flares, and different bumpers. Regardless, the Tremor looks undoubtedly handsome thanks to its upgraded wheels and signature orange accents, too.

Tremor Upgrades
In terms of equipment, the Tremor offers quite a bit, including a locking rear differential, an optional Torsen limited-slip front differential, specially-tuned front monotube shocks, twin-tube rear shocks, retuned springs, a Raptor-style bash plate, and matte-finish 18-inch wheels wrapped with 33-inch General Grabber all-terrain tires.

Power Upgrade
The new 2021 F-150 Raptor goes a step further with Ford's upgraded H.O. version of its twin-turbo 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6, which produces 450 horsepower and 510 pound-feet of torque and is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. Underneath, things get even more serious.

Raptor Suspension Upgrades
The Raptor is packing some serious suspension upgrades including a new five-link rear coilover suspension, Fox Live Valve internal bypass shocks, 24-inch coil springs, and either 35-inch or in this case, optional 37-inch specially-designed BFGoodrich all-terrain T/A K02 tires.

Choices
It's clear that the F-150 Tremor is designed to be a more capable off-road pickup with a little extra style, while the Raptor is an all-out desert blaster with an aggressive exterior style designed to grab attention everywhere it goes. For buyers, these pickups also give us a choice as to how extreme we want to go, both on the outside and underneath the surface.
