Future Cash Cow

It's no secret that like most every other automaker out there, Ford has experienced its fair share of financial struggles in recent months. However, there is reason for optimism. The Blue Oval has a slew of exciting new products on the way, and the 2021 Ford F-150 could prove to be the massive cash cow the automaker needs to get it back on track.

Revenue Machine

And don't just take our word for it - Yahoo Finance is convinced that the new F-150 will boost Ford's revenue over the next several months, helping to give its stock a lift as well. After all, the F-Series is already a massive brand all by itself, raking in over $40 billion in revenue last year alone, with 900,000 units sold.

Close To the Vest

Yahoo Finance also believes that Ford's refusal to provide much information on its forthcoming all-electric F-150 is a genius business move that prevents competitors from poaching any ideas. In the meantime, despite a two-month production shutdown earlier this year, the automaker says it has enough stock to meet demand over the coming months.

Stark Comparison

Its difficult to fathom just how important the F-150 is to Ford's bottom line, but consider the fact that America's best-selling muscle car, the Mustang, moved 72,489 units in 2019. That's a mere drop in the bucket compared to the nearly one million pickups Ford sold, so it goes without saying that the Mustang Mach-E release is not nearly as important as the forthcoming F-150 EV.

Burning Cash

Thus, Yahoo Finance believes that Ford's continued sales of existing F-Series inventory will help keep it afloat until the 2021 model begins production this fall. Problem is, Ford's European sales are lagging far behind, and increased spending on research and development is eating up all that cash flow.

More Secure

Regardless, experts believe that Ford's stock is still undervalued, especially when you consider the fact that its electric vehicles show a lot of promise. Investors are always attracted to shiny upstarts like Nikola and Rivian, but Ford offers much more security in that regard.

Future Prospects

Throw in the new Bronco, and investors have plenty of reason to be interested in Ford's upcoming revival. Ultimately, investing is always a risky endeavor, but it's hard to believe that the new F-150 won't continue to lead the way when it comes to new vehicle sales in the U.S.
