This particular Ranger is one of the nicer ones we've seen in some time.

Time Warp

While the Ford Ranger exists as a rather large mid-size pickup in today's world, most remember it as the cheap, compact pickup that many of us owned at some point along the way. We're still a bit nostalgic about the old Ranger as well, which is why this 2003 Edge that popped up for sale on Craiglist recently serves as a bit of a time warp.

Nicely Equipped

This particular Ranger wasn't the cheapest version of its generation by a long shot, as it's a SuperCab model with four-wheel-drive and the Edge package, which was originally intended to provide two-wheel-drive pickups with more of a rugged 4x4 look. With just 86k miles on the clock, it certainly qualifies as a low-mileage find.

Bigger Powerplant

The same rings true under the hood, as this Ranger Edge is powered by Ford's 4.0-liter SOHC Cologne V6, which was originally rated to produce 207 horsepower and 238 pound-feet of torque. Backed up by a five-speed manual gearbox, this was about as much fun as you could have in a Ranger back then, even if it isn't fast by anyone's standards.

Questionable Choices

Aside from a dent and scratch or two on the outside, this '03 Ranger is in pretty excellent condition, save for a few unsightly stickers present on the inside. The truck was apparently owned by a young man - nothing unusual for this gen Ranger - which explains that questionable fashion choice. Regardless, it's an easy fix.

Conjuring Up Memories

In today's world, the asking price of $7,000 for this truck is undoubtedly reasonable, especially given its condition. Thus, it's no surprise that it sold rather quickly, too. Regardless, it was at least a nice way to conjure up some fond memories from the years when we owned (more than) one of these trucks, which were certainly solid, cheap forms of transportation.
