1995 F-150 Ignition Lock Cylinder Puzzle
So I had a problem with my old ignition lock cylinder. Did the old YouTube University and figured out how to swap the old one out for a new one. Managed to get that done without too much hassle. Got the new lock cylinder in. The release pin seems to be in position where it's supposed to be... the key starts and shuts off the truck like it's supposed to. Even holds the key and only beeps at me when the door's open now (like it's supposed to).... but it won't let me have the key back lol.
If I take the new cylinder out, I can freely move the key in between positions of lock, off, and run. I can remove the key, put it back in, everything smooth and just fine. When the cylinder is installed, though, it's like it doesn't want to fully to "lock" position. It starts and stops just fine, as I said, but it's not quite going to the lock position to release the key. I can see the push pin thing in it's proper spot under the column. It seems to be where it needs to be.
Given that the ignition key and the door key are two separate keys I just left the key in the ignition and locked it up for the night. Anyone have a suggestion to help me solve this? I'd appreciate it. =)
If that fails, pull the cylinder, put the key in RUN, reinstall it, then turn it back to OFF. That usually resets it.
If it still won't give the key back, the new cylinder is slightly out of spec compare it to your old one and swap it for another brand.
