Ford TPMS sensors for trailer

I had my oem tpms sensors in my previous rv, I had them removed when I sold it. I just had a tire shop install them in the wheels of my newish toy hauler. The shop said the valve stem hole in the wheels is a larger size than the sensor valve stem and they might leak air. They are leaking. Anyone encounter this? What’s the fix?

Are you running HD trailer wheels, like 16" or larger perhaps, in that toy hauler? I'll bet you are given it probably has a high GVWR. In that case, I would check to see if you have 0.625" diameter stem holes. IIRC the Ford OEM TPMS sensors you are referring to only support 0.452" diameter stem holes on wheels with a J-type flange that is wider than 3.5 inches (88.9mm).
If it is just the stem hole diameter that is the problem, you might want to consider:
(a) Schrader 20165 0.625" TPMS Adapter Kit For OEM Trailer TPMS or
(b) Valve Stem for 2024 Ford TPMS Sensor (Rim Hole Size .625)

If it is the wheel flange that is the problem, you probably cannot use those OEM sensors on those wheels. In that case, first thing I would check is whether there is a third party sensor available that is compatible with your wheel flange, the stem hole diameter AND the Ford TPMS system used on your truck.

It’s the stem hole. Thanks for the reply.
