The best year SD to buy?
We are in the market for a second super duty either a f250 or an f350. We have a 21 XLT crew cab short bed with the 7.3 and it’s been a great truck. I have had a 17, 19, and a different 21 all with the 6.2. I would like to get a 6.7 for some of the hauling I do. Mainly hauling a skid loader, hay, and a gooseneck livestock trailer. Is there any year that is better than the other for build quality or reliability? I had a 24 f350 with the 6.8 and loved it but I think the build quality of the previous generation was much better. We considered a new crew cab long bed but even after the Land O Lakes discount they are still very expensive. Any suggestions or advice is appreciated, thanks!

Other than the AC issues that plagued some of the 24-25 years and dummy hub runs (easy enough fix) I can't think of any real reason to avoid the 23+, A 2022 built after May 2022 would be fine too with the 10R140 issue addressed, but my March 2022 build with the 10 speed is okay so far.

For what you’re doing (skid steer, hay, and a gooseneck livestock trailer), most owners consider the 2017-2019 6.7 Super Duty the most proven and reliable “no drama” range, with the simpler setup and strong 6R140 transmission. The 2020–2022 trucks are also a great choice if you want the 10-speed and better towing feel, but they come with more emissions complexity. I’d lean toward an F-350 over an F-250 for the extra payload and stability with gooseneck loads. The 2023+ trucks are excellent but expensive, and you’re still paying early high pricing for the redesign.
