Hi guys, I currently have my 351 Windsor on an engine stand and I'm doing a gasket overhaul and seals as well as some other things. I am considering putting a pair of headers on the truck, I have a 1989 Ford f250 4x4, 351 Windsor with a C6 , and a Dana 50 ttb in the front,
I'm not looking to break the bank on these, I believe I need shorty headers, if anybody has ran headers on these trucks before, any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
I use Hedman shorties. Only time you need “specific” headers would be long tubes. Shorties will bolt straight up to Y pipe.
As long as they are for a 351, they will work. Delete the EGR tube and you can use 302 headers.
302 headers are NOT the same as 5.8L headers. The factory Y-pipe WILL fit 5.8L shorties, but 5.0 shortie exits will be too far apart and an inch higher, making pipe from there back more difficult fitting around shift linkage, 4x4 driveshaft on the drivers side, and may hit the AC plenum on the passenger side. The 5.8 shorties are routed tighter to the engine block and extend farther down.

My mistake! I could have swore I read threads on people using them if they deleted the EGR. If they are longer, then in theory 302s could use a 351 y pipe with a little finagling.
