351 headers worth it?
I have a rebuilt 351 windsor engine, carburated in an 85 f 250. This past summer I put a dynomax exhaust on it, and I'm pleased with the performance. Very pleased. However I wanted to put headers on the truck to replace stock manifolds. My two questions are.
1. I can't find headers for this model truck ANYWHERE. They only start at 86 and up 351 headers. Why is this? WHere can I find them.
2. Someone told me NOT to put headers on the truck, because they won't make any performance difference, because of the exhaust and the catalytic converter. Is this guy full of it, or does he know what he's talking about?
Oh yeah, one more thing, will a set of headers take away from my low end torque or anything? Thanks guys

edelbrock has your headers part #6649 $639 with or without a/c,black i have flowtech on my 82 351 w no a/c striaght 2 in a half pipes with flowmaster glasspacks with 3 inch 15 inch tips,sounds great,but really no power difference without the headers,just sounds deeper,check Hedman,Flowtech,or even Summit Racing,good luck.

hey ,it's me again,shop around for headers first,if you really want headers go with the cheaper price one,mine ran around 280$,they look nice but i wish i got cheaper one's in the long run.For glasspacks,the shorter the louder,longer means quieter.good luck.

351 headers worth it?
Look at some Doug Thorley tri-y headers. I know they make them for the 351, and tri-y's are supposed to be very good for torque. The only down side with these is that they are full length and you would have to have a custom exhaust made up. Also check with Dynomax, they may have some direct fit models.
