I've got a 1970 F100 and I'm having problems with my dome light. The previous owner of this truck did a ton of "custom" wiring and I'm convinced the guy was drunk the entire time. I've spent 80+ hours rewiring my truck and fixing electrical issues. It's been nonstop problems. I've fixed 90% of those issues somehow, I've never touched truck wiring before but following diagrams and rewiring it how it should be done hasn't been too difficult. However, the dome light in my truck still doesn't work (and neither does the cargo light but I suspect those two issues are related???). I know the dome light is supposed to be on when the door jam switches aren't pushed in (hence the door would be open) and when they get pushed in the light shuts off. The only issue is, my truck has the plugs for the door jam switches, buuuuut no switches themselves. There's a big oval shaped hole in each door frame that I can see the plugs through. However that hole is far too large for a simple door jam switch, and is clearly stamped into the door frame from factory (curled over edges, nice uniform shape, y'know the deal). I see no other hole for a door jam switch to mount. Although it is possible the previous owner took them out, I'm very confused on where door jam switches would go, or if my truck even had them in the first place? It IS a ranger package so I imagine it would have that kinda luxury stuff. But still, I don't see any obvious signs of a switch ever being in each door frame. And if it didnt come with switches, why would it have the dome light? Is there a different way that light is supposed to turn on? Is there any other way I could wire it in without getting too hillbilly with it? The fuse to the light works, the previous owner installed an electric choke and did his own redneck wiring job tying it into that fuse. But his wiring doesn't interfere with the dome light wiring at all, he just jumped power off that fuse. But still, I got a courtesy light, no door jam switches to activate it, but I got the plugs for the switches and the fuse works. Any ideas?

Try rotating your light switch to the left until it clicks and that should turn on your dome light. The door jamb switches are still available from multiple suppliers and they just snap into the hole in the sheet metal bracket that's screwed to the door jamb after you connect the plug wiring
There is a bracket that holds the door switch. Switches are still available, I just bought 2 new ones to replace the current brittle ones. The plastic plug that on the wires is also available. I had to replace mine since the plastic tabs broke off when I removed them. Then found a factory crimp holding on by a thread. Finding those 0.083" AMP pins are not that easy to find any more. I found some in a connector kit. I've put a new complete 17 circuit fuse block in my truck.
There is a ground wire that is required for the dome light since it's plastic.
Use a test light to see where your loosing the power at. Like said the light switch will turn the dome light on so you don't have to jumper the jam connectors.
