Neighbor said I can have it if I can get it running. Been sitting for at least 4 years. Reconditioned the batteries, trimmed some degraded battery cables, started right up. It had sunk a little into the dirt (in Florida). Dug it out, but can’t get it out.
Seems that the back right wheels are seized or something? The back left spins when I put it in gear (forward and reverse), but the back right is just locked.
As far as I can tell, no brakes are on (service or emergency). The only thing I can think is that the pads are rusted/stuck to the drum?
I peeked under and snapped a few pics and it looks like someone tried to cage the brakes? That bolt is backed out.
I read that you can somehow see if the pads are up against the drum?
Anyway, I’ve attached a few pics.

Those are the Lucas Girling brakes. They are all hydraulic. They are a crappy, complex alternative to air brakes. They look caged and can be caged just like air brakes. There should be a small rubber plug somewhere in the sheet metal on the backing plate for shoe to drum clearance / inspection. Or cut and bend it if you don't care. One of my trucks had a stuck brake but it is not that style. I adjusted it and pried on it and it finally let go without a ton of hassle.
I think I saw the rubber plug. Was there 2?. Was planning on trying to spray a whole can of pb blaster in there and seeing if it will let go. Otherwise I need to pull the wheels off and open it up... was hoping I wouldn't have to do that.
Yes I think there are 2-3 plugs. I would not spray oil in there as you will have to clean it later. I would try to adjust the brakes in then pry on the shoes and tap the drums if you can to save all the labor of taking it all apart annd cleaning it unless you were planning on doing that anyway.
My main goal is to get it out of his field and into my big garage in the next field over. I have a brother and brother-in-law with ex-Army mechanics and a bunch of nephews that I can turn loose on it and plan on taking them apart anyway. It was sitting for at least 4 years since I bought the property and we had a hurricane here and there was probably 6" or so of water in these fields for a day or so.
You think if I go to town with a hammer on the back side it might brake them free? Or do I need to at least remove the wheels and bang on the drum without the wheels on?
It has other problems... like the gas pedal floor mount has rusted off so I have to reach down and grab it to rev it This baby needs a lot of attention to make it road worthy.
Hmmm being submerged in salt water makes me think it will be very stuck. Be careful not to destroy the drums as some are not available new or hard to find used.

Sorry, we are inland in Florida, so it was just rainwater, not saltwater. Sorry if I implied that.
Oh , no problem, I assumed. If you do give it some hammer time I would hit the outside diameter of the drum if access allows maybe with a steel bar or heavy oak board to shock the shoes loose, 90 degrees to your arrows. The part you suggested is just sheet metal and will deform. I’ve never messed with Dayton rims. If you have a way to do it jack it up and remove the inner wheel and then hammer the drum.

Yeah, I saw that is just some sort of guard. I think I’m just going to have to pull the wheels off. Was hoping I didn’t have to do that, but looks that I will have to. Thanks!
