300-> 460 swap details
I dont think so but that is me and the 300 & NP435 works for me in my 81 F100 and I pull trailers with it, not fast but gets the job done.
Also that 460 is going to want a lot of gas, big motor = lot of gas and more so if just used to cruise around town.
Now if you were pulling large heavy trailers for a long distance then it may be worth it. I used a 76 E350 460 / auto to pull a 2 car trailer to / from off road tracks when racing jeeps, and I would not have used anything else.
Think the oil filter will need to be relocated as the crossmember is not cut out for it on your truck.
Wiring will need to be made longer & shorter on some wires.
Think throttle cable is different.
Think the P/S pump hoses are different as I think the later use O-Rings not flare fittings.
You also got to deal with the intake as the later is EFI. I and think there was something about how a carb intake manifold will not bolt up without adapters or something, could be wrong?
So what are the plans for the truck?

Grab the motor perch brackets you will need all stuff, including the motor mounts. (I forgot, you are using L&L mounts)
There has been rumors some of the 351m/400 bells will not fit. Some where made for a smaller clutch and a official 460 clutch may rub the 351m/400 type bell. Just something to watch out for.
that had had an engine swap drove me nuts. Make a comprehensive record of every part used and
where you bought or took it from or off of. You'll never know what all you'll need until the truck is finished
and on the road.
