Tailgate Assist Shock?
Anyone have one? I bought 1 several years ago and attempted to install it going strictly by the instructions.
It appears that the hole on the lower left side of the tailgate is too big (and possibly slightly oval?) and I don't think anyone has messed with it. The darn hole just seems to be too big for the size nutzert that they sent.
Are there any known brands of these things that are better than others?

I have a dee zee brand on mine for a few years and it works great and everything fit fine. But I also have a 08 tail gate on mine. Not sure if the strut mounts exactly the same or not. But it did take a nut sert thing on the lower left side hole.

I have had a DeeZee for a good decade and it has been a nice addition to the 2000 OEM tailgate.

Another DeeZee user, no problems on install. Love that thing.
Sure the year of the kit matches the year of the tailgate?

Me three DeeZee user. Now contemplating replacing it with a pneumatic cylinder so I can close the tailgate from the cab.

My truck is a L99 I ordered the kit that said '99-'07. I don't think it was a DeeZee brand though...

This is interesting. I have the original '99 tailgate on mine. May be the generic kit I bought was/is for 2008 & up.....

I'm half way to there. I can drop my tailgate and lock it with key fob. Ain't got the closing part down yet. 😂
