For those that haven't disabled the cell connection in their trucks, it will be resolved with an OTA software update. Not so bad, as far as recalls go.

not to derail this, but I never really understood which vehicles got OTA updates? I thought it was only Sync 4 vehicles?

Yeah, being that this is for April 5, 2021 - 2026, mine falls in this, but I have Sync3. So it will be interesting to see if those of us with Sync3 will also get it as an OTA update. I hope so because I don't want to have to go to Ford and I don't want them hooking my truck up for anything... don't want them to complete a previous recall update or change any of my Forscan changes. I know I can go back in and do them again, but I don't really want too... lol!
I did some reading and from I understand, only Sync 4 vehicles can get an update like this. Sync 3 can only get updates to the Sync system via a Wi-Fi connection or USB.
Major 2026 Trailer Module Recall
This recall affects approximately 4.38 million vehicles in the U.S. due to a software error in the Integrated Trailer Module (ITRM).
Affected Models: 2022–2026 Ford Super Duty (F-250 through F-600).
The Issue: A software vulnerability can cause the module to lose communication with the vehicle. If this happens while towing, the trailer’s brake lights, turn signals, and, in "High series" models, the trailer braking function itself may fail.
Warning Signs: Drivers may see a "Trailer Brake Module Fault" or "Blind Spot Assist System Fault" message on the instrument cluster.
The Fix: Ford will provide a free over-the-air (OTA) software update starting in May 2026. Owners can also visit a dealer for the update starting March 17, 2026.

2022 Recall (22S17 / NHTSA 22V193000):Impacted 2021–2022 F-150 and 2022 Super Duty models where a software glitch caused the trailer brake controller to not apply brakes properly, potentially resulting in no trailer brake function while driving.
How to Verify Your Vehicle
To confirm if your specific Super Duty is included in these recalls:
I'll wait to see if I get a letter and in the meantime, I'll just be glad that I have the diesel exhaust brake and am significantly "over-trucked"...... not sure I'd notice if my trailer brakes were working or not if I didn't test them occasionally.
