Here's a product review for a custom leather wrap for the XL and XLT plastic steering wheel. I chose the leather color and types, selected the thread color, and added the centering stripe for fun. It took about a week to receive the kit.
Manufacturer: Texas Custom Interior - TexasCustomInterior(dot)com
Black leather top and bottom
Black perforated leather sides
Light gray threads
Light gray centering stripe
Installation took about 3 hours. The most difficult thing is ending the stitched sections with a knot. I also probably honked the horn 10 times by accident, haha. This style of wheel has 3 sections to stitch. The kit came with everything required, including trim tool, thread, needles, double-sided tape. Watch a few YouTube videos on installing similar covers and you'll understand it. Not difficult at all, just time consuming.
Looks Great. I am just getting ready to do the same on my STX. Quick Question: What did you do with the "flap" on the bottom backside of the wheel? The front you can tuck behind the plastic/trim, but on the backside I am not sure what to do?
