2017 fast idle when engine is slightly warm, ambient temps 70-80F
Truck is d-e-l-e-t-e-d, so tuned. It seems like whenever I drive the truck, engine temp runs about 196F, and then I park it for say a couple of hours the idle will be about 1100 rpm after I start the truck. At this point the engine temp can be anywhere from 98-135F. Not sure at what engine temp this may start occurring. This never happens if I start the truck after short park times where the engine has no chance to cool down. And it never happens on the first start in the garage in the morning on the first drive. Also, I can't seem to reduce the idle by touching the brake or tapping the throttle. This just happened today after letting the truck cool down for 3 hours before pulling into the garage after a couple hours of driving. When I went to pull it in the idle occurred and engine temp was about 130F. Also checked with FORSCAN and no DTCs. This has happened most of the summer, so ambient temps are 70-80, maybe 85F.
Just wondering if this may be normal, or if the tune may be the issue, etc.
Thanks for the document and the info. However, since the truck is d-e-l-e-t-e-d there is no SCR. I would hope the d-e-l-e-t-e tune would take care of this situation regarding long idle times. Also, I don't typically idle the truck for long times. Probably the longest idle would be eating fast food in the truck and letting it run for the AC when it's hot outside. Thanks again, it does give me something to think about regarding the tune...
Just a followup with a solution, not really a fix.
I found on another forum a thread related to issues with the ambient air temperature. I tried the reset described in the thread and it does seem to resolve the issue. I have tried it three or four times now and it does let the AC blow cold air.
Here is a copy of the original post.

Ambient Air Temperature (AAT) Sensor
The Ambient Air Temperature (AAT) sensor is an input to the PCM. If the outside air temperature is below approximately 0°C (32°F), the PCM does not allow the A/C compressor clutch to engage.
The PCM sends raw ambient air temperature data to the FCIM. The FCIM filters the raw data, sends it to the APIM and the touchscreen displays the outside temperature.
After replacing an Ambient Air Temperature (AAT) sensor, the sensor data must be reset by either driving the vehicle at speeds consistently about 20 MPH for at least 5 minutes to update the filtered data or perform the multiple button press reset procedure to update to the current raw value.
The multiple button reset for the Ambient Air Temperature (AAT) sensor is as follows:
On the HVAC panel controls, press the A/C and Recirc buttons simultaneously, then, release both.
Within 2 seconds press the A/C button again.
The older trucks, 11 to 16s, had them in the passenger side mirror. Not sure about the new 17 and up Alumina Dutys...
That’s correct. It’s a pain getting the cable off, on mine the lever snapped and I had to use a small flat-head screwdriver to unlock it. Without that it’s a two minute job.

Any ideas are appreciated.
Well this is still happening, and I have a little more information now.
Basically what I posted above, plus yesterday I had to move the truck out of the garage to bring in another vehicle for some work. So I started the truck and engine temp was about 68F, let it run about 30 seconds, backed it out and parked. So ran maybe 2 minutes. Did the service work on the other vehicle, about an hour. Then went to bring the truck back in, and the engine temp was about 82F. Started it up and the idle went to about 1100-1200RPM. Tapped the brake and throttle both and it would not slow back down. This is driving me a little crazy now.
As I said above the truck is d-e-l-e-t-e-d, so maybe a side effect of the tune.? I honestly don't remember if this ever happened prior to the d-e-l-e-t-e.
Or, maybe a sensor is flaky, but not throwing any DTC.?

I'm no expert by any means, but if i were you i'd try reflashing the tune. Not sure what tuning platform and tune writer you're using. Hopefully it won't cost you an arm and a leg to try that.
