Considering Selling - 1980 Flare Side

Hi all - I was pretty active on there about 10-15 years ago when I was in the process of replacing the motor in my truck. Anyway, I lost focus on the project years ago, and its been sitting on the garage since. Priorities in life have changed, so Im looking for some guidance on where to sell, and for how much. Ill post some new, updated pictures soon, but here is my gallery from my old profile before I started the engine swap:

https://www.ford-trucks.com/g/album/840497

Current Status -
Body and Frame (80 Swiss-Cheese) are 100% absolutely rust free. All old rubber body mounts replaced with Poly and new hardware.
Cab Interior - Currently gutted, but have all the parts on hand
Motor - Rebuilt 351. Dont recall the year of truck it came out of, but the only original parts are the block casting, crank, pistons and connecting rods. Everything else has been replaced with performance parts (ARP fasteners, roller lifters, roller rockers, HO cam, high flow aluminum heads & intake, Basani equal length ceramic coated headers, MSD ignition etc. The parts totaled ~$9k when originally bought back in 2010.
Transmission - Was originally a C6, swapped over to a 4 spd stick, cant recall which, but was rebuilt by local transmission shop. Hydro clutch, with firewall reinforcement plate. Have correct steering column, needs Hydro-Correct pedal assembly.
Paperwork and Documentation - I have both original 1980 shop manuals, and the invoice slips for every part I bought.

Located in Northwest CT

Thanks in advance

Looks like a nice truck. You should take a look at bring a trailer auction site and search sold trucks that match your flareside. These old trucks are valuable. I'll say $10k and up is what you will see for clean trucks. Good luck!

I have something similar but maybe not quite as nice as yours.

1980 Flare Side originally from Arizona. Small amount of cab corner rot (about the size of a playing card) in both corners. That's it for rust (with the exception of surface rust). Original drive train is gone (351M/C6). The truck came with an AOD and I have since sourced a 300/6. My interior is shot but is beige. It's a 4x2. Paint is roasted (originally 'walnut glow' with 'sand glow' and was re-painted dark red - it's more like rose-gold on horizontal surfaces). I paid $3200 for it here in northern Illinois. It needs a lot of work (and I'm not restoring it but refurbishing it) but I have the space and time.

If I were you, I think I'd start around $10K. Paperwork and documentation are nice but, IMO, doesn't add much value. You might think that's low but it seems as if no one is interested in a project because they have a hard time picking up where someone else left off. I know of a nice '80 Flare Side in central Illinois that's a little further along than my truck. The owner is asking $2500 (which I think is a killer deal) and it's been at that price for months. You're looking for a specific buyer and sometimes that's really hard to find. But, it's always easy to drop the price (as opposed to giving something away). Hope this helps.

Guys from what I gather from his post the truck is apart so the pictures may not hold true.
If running and driving and pictures hold true then maybe just maybe 10K
But if I cant drive it from Northwest CT to Raleigh NC I would not pay 10K for it.

Also watch CT dose not hand out titles for older cars / trucks so he may not have one in hand.
He could file for one, $xx and wait, but if you are looking for one at time of sale well ???
I know as I lived in CT 10 years ago and I got an even older car with out a title ever a trailer.
Unless I can show 5+ years of regasration for either, who holds on to old reg?, I got to file for the titles

Dave, 100% correct. CT does not issue titles for older vehicles as to many other states. I will look into getting one to ease the process. Thanks

Yeah, but DMVs in other states would know this and I would think that a Bill of Sale would be good enough. But, if you could get a CT title, I guess that would ease a potential buyer's fears.

Well I know when I tried to get a plate for my car trailer and could not find the title and only had the at the time up to date REG NC said title or 5 years worth of old REG sheets.
The trailer has been sitting in my yard now about 8 years as I dont need it but did find the title.
Now if I can remember where I put it LOL

I am thinking if I ever plate a older car that was in my name in CT I will have to see about a title for it like the trailer
It has not had a plate longer than the trailer as I dropped it when still in CT.

Oh BTW in NC the titles need to be notarized at least NC titles do when sold.
Found this out when I bought my pick up the seller told me about this.
Parts truck was notarized not that I cared but a Honda bike was not and DMV sent me away.
So might be nice to have a title and it be notarized too?

Good luck on the sale
