2023 Sync 4 Audio Finally Turns Off at Door Opening
Well, I just noticed today that when I park and shut the truck off, the Sync 4 no longer annoyingly keeps playing the music I was listening to for a short time so everyone could hear after I opened my door. When the 23s were released early last year, this was a topic of discussion and general annoyance.
As of today, the audio shuts off when I open the door. No new updates that I'm aware... last one was Power-Up 5.3.1 on December 2nd, according to Ford Pass. I did have the IPC recall done a couple of months ago, but there wasn't any change in this behavior then that I can recall.
Anyone else notice the change? Have the 24s always shut off the audio at door opening?
My 2023 XLT used to keep the radio playing for at least a few seconds after the door was opened with the key off and out of the ignition, but recently it changed to shut off immediately when I just start to open the door.
My 24, built the first week of December keeps playing for a while when I open the door after shutting the truck off
My 24 built in November does the same thing and I find it very annoying. Looked all over for a setting but no luck. I would prefer it just shut off when I push the off button.

Thanks, fellas. Very interesting. I think most folks don't mind the continued play at engine shutdown, but few of us really want to share our music with everyone in the parking lot when we open the door. Made a few stops in my truck yesterday and it shutoff at door opening every time. Will make a few more today and will be monitoring to see if this is in fact a new update or just fluke... that I like.

Well, looks like it was a fluke. Sync seems to be back to its old ways by continuing to play after engine shutdown and door opening, although it does seem to continue playing for a slightly shorter amount of time. Oh, well.. <kicks can>
I FOUND THE SOLUTION! It's the "rear occupant alert" setting that needs to be turned off. Why that affects how long the radio plays after opening your door, I couldn't tell you... but I played with that setting several times and its exactly why there is a delay in the radio shutting off after the door is opened. On my 2026 F150, I had to navigate to:
